How it all began
We began our journey 1973 when the Wellingborough Volunteer Bureau was created by the Borough Council of Wellingborough. It was incorporated as a charity in 1981, in 2008 it became Shire Community Services, a Charitable Company and in 2026, it is set to became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, renamed as Shire Connect.
These days we run all the accessible transport services you see on this website.

Trustees meet approximately every six weeks, usually late afternoon or early evening, at the Shire office. Their role is to oversee the charities' finances, organisation etc etc.
